White gum line04/13/2006 |
I do brush my teeth, my gums, and my tongue. I have developed over a period of time very white gum lines in certin areas of my mouth, the areas are directlt adjacent to my teeth. My dentist fears that this is a precursor to cancer. Do you have an opinion on this condition. Thank you
It is hard for me to give a diagnosis without seeing what it looks like. However, if you have a regular dentist that you visit for your check-ups, he/she probably is noticing the difference between appointments. Thus, I recommend having a biopsy from one of the white areas. You can also seek a pathology consultation from an oral pathology specialist. If you live close to a university hospital, most of the dental schools have separate oral pathology departments from where you can get a second opinion.
