HIV and AIDS

My Risk Factor For HIV

05/23/2006

Question:

I haven´t had sexual intercourse, but I´ve kissed about 8 people in my life and performed oral sex on one. Every year around christmas I used to get sick. That was when I lived in Nigeria and the blood tests always showed I had malaria or typhiod. I always thought that was weird. Why always the same time of year? But that´s not my question anyways.

It's just that if I´ve been infected with HIV it would have been from the oral sex and that was 6 years ago. I don´t have the symptoms: swollen lymph glands, weight loss, night sweats, or things like that, but from my sexual history do you think it's possible I do have HIV? It's just I'm a known hypochondriac. Thank you. I´d appreciate a reply.

Answer:

The only way to know for sure is to take the HIV antibody blood test.
