Treating Pain and Swelling After Teeth Pulling04/30/2006 |
My husband just had 21 teeth pulled and dentures put in. He has a lot of swelling and pain. Is there anything that we can do to help with the pain and swelling? He's on pain pills and is putting ice on his face.
I would encourage him to follow the directions given to him by the dentist who removed the teeth. Ice does help take down the swelling, as will an anti-inflammatory medication. The anti-inflammatory may be a part of the pain medication that he is taking. For example, vicodin contains tylenol. Your pharmacist should also be able to tell you whether an anti-inflammatory is part of the pain medication.
