Medication Reduction Time Table05/15/2006 |
I have been using antidepressants for years, now I want to stop the medication. I know it should be tapered slowly so I started at my usual 20 mg of escitolopram. First, I moved to 15mg for 15 days, now I have decided to move to 10mg for next 15 days, and then I will move to 5mg for next 15 days. I want to ask is it correct timetable to have minimum withdrawl effect. Give me any suggestion plz. I was taking antidepressants from 6 years.
I cannot encourage anyone to stop medication without consulting with your physician first. A slow taper is most appropriate, as you are doing, but you should do this under the supervision of your physician.
