05/22/2006

Question:

With regard to recent information on jaw deterioration and Fosomax... is the potential for this problem as significant for patients taking Actenol?

Answer:

It is not known if osteonecrosis of the jaw will occur with the same frequency for all bisphosphonates.  The vast majority of cases have occurred in patients with cancer who were being treated with intravenous bisphosphonates.
