Osteoporosis

Constipation-Osteoporosis

06/05/2006

Question:

I have been on actenol since Nov and also 1000 mg of calcium and have been experiencing severe constipation. I read on a website that magnesium is needed in a 2:1 ratio with calcium to keep regularity. Do you think it will help if I take a magnesium supplement?

Answer:

The majority of women do not need magnesium supplementation to maintain regularity with intake of calcium. On the other hand, there are few side effects to taking magnesium supplements, so if you want to try it, there should be minimal risk.
