Rheumatoid Arthritis or TMJ11/21/2006 |
I have RA for about two years. Recently I got a pain in my jaw. It felt like I had a migrain, toothache in all my teeth and ear ache all at the same time. I take Prednisone and many other medications for my RA. I increased the amount of Prednisone for a little while and my jaw settled down. How can I tell the differnce between Ra and TMJ or are they the same thing?
The TMJ (temporomandibular joint) can get affected by RA like any other joint in the body. Since you have already been diagnosed with this condition, it clearly explains why you are having these symptoms. Its management is no different from that of other affected joints in your body.
