Thyroid Diseases

Salty Saliva From Iodine Test

I had a CT scan two days ago and since then have had an extremely salty taste in my mouth no matter what I eat. I consulted a couple of doctors and one of them said the iodine in the CT scan stimulated my thyroid to be overactive, resulting in excessive saltiness in my saliva. What do you think?

The iodine in the contrast dye could conceivably cause an overactive thyroid, but I have never heard of salty saliva as a symptom of an overactive thyroid.  I'm not sure why your saliva tastes salty, but I'll bet it goes away with time.
