Asymmetrical condyle - orthodontic treatment07/13/2006 |
What special considerations need to be made when a face is asymmetrical due to 1 shorter condyle. Lower teeth are overcrowded.
There are many things that can be done for the management of such a condition. Depending on how big the asymmetry is and how much correction is required, treatment can range from simple restorative procedures on the teeth to major surgical reconstruction in combination with orthodontic treatment.
Without establishing the nature of the condition and the degree of deformity, it is impossible to say where in that broad spectrum of options the patient may fall.
