What to do about my lower permanent retainer
i still have my permanent lower retainer. at my last visit to my orthodontist years ago he informed me that i would wear i indefinately. it`s hard to maintain and would like to someday feel my bottom teeth. what are my options?
Good question. If the retainer is still cemented to the back of your lower teeth, it would be the best option to keep it on until it becomes loose, which it will some day.
The second option is to have it removed and have the orthodontist construct a removable retainer. This, however, must be worn half time or nightly, if you want to insure that these teeth remain straight.
Remember, that just as our faces change over time, some slight crowding of lower incisors left un-retained will move slightly in time.
