Breast Feeding

Stopping

10/03/2006

Question:

Just want some advise on weaning, I have done it now for over 6m

Answer:

Starting the baby on solids will aid in the weaning process.

Nursing times will slowly become shorter and less frequent.

The baby will become more interested in crawling and in eating and drinking other beverages.

Any MILK should still be breast milk for at least one year.

Formula is ok for some babies, but for many others it can upset the baby’s stomach, cause constipation or diarrhea, or allergic symptoms.

Whole milk is to be avoided until at least one year of age.
