Erectile Dysfunction (ED)
Effects of impotence drugs on female partners
I have been impotent for years and the oral drugs do not work. My doctor suggest using MUSE. What studies have been done on the effect of MUSE on women? I have been told the main ingredient in MUSE can cause abortions, is this true?
I refer you to the Muse package insert. If you do not have one handy, refer to this Patient Information link. It states in the contraindications section "Muse should not be used for sexual intercourse with a pregnant woman unless the couple uses a condom barrier." This statement is repeated in the Information to Patients Section. Also in this section it states "There is no information on the effects on early pregnancy of PGE1 at the levels received by female partners." Also there is a section that discusses fetal toxicity in a rat study.
