Lumps10/09/2006 |
Near the back of my tongue on the outer edges, ive noticed these red bumps, only visible when my tongue is stuck out. They appear just like little mounds.I recently saw some diagrams and it looked like deep along the tongue, it tuns into this texture, i just wanted to check as it seemed odd to only be visible on the outer sides . . . . any help?
There are larger bumps on the back of the tongue called circumvallate papilla. These are normal. Without seeing your tongue though, it is difficult to know if what your describing are these papilla or not. It is best to see your dentist to find out for sure and ease your concern.
