Allergic to watchband10/18/2006 |
I own a Movado museum watch with a lizard watchband. I broke out; called the company and they sent a new watchband. I am still breaking out. :(Any suggestions?
Recognize that many watchbands have nickel in them, both the metal ones and the "leather" watchbands. Nickel sulfate is frequently used as a tanning material. There are leathers that are vegetable tanned and they usually do not cause a breakout. You may also find that there are bands made out of fabric that go under the watch so that its back is not in contact with your skin. I would guess that you have a significant nickel allergy. Your board certified dermatologist can help you confirm that.
