Banding teeth for braces11/03/2006 |
I am considering getting braces again. A friend of mine just had them put on and they banded all four of her back teeth, but two women I work with have braces with no banding at all. Is one technique better than the other? Does it simply vary based on the preference of the orthodontist?
I think it does depend on the preference of the operator. Some orthodontists feel that there is greater strength and less breakage using molar bands. Your concern can be addressed by simply asking the doctor why he or she favors one method over another. In the overall scheme of things, it is a small concern. Go with the treatment plan that seems to fit your needs.
