Drug testing in the workplace

Question:

I was recently informed that our company will begin doing regular drug testing. I am concerned because I am on a number of different medications, and, like many others on staff, am worried about false positives.

Are there any resources out there that list medications and the false positives they may cause on a drug test?

Answer:

Good question, and as you stated, many people share your concerns. The best thing to do is to LIST the medications that you are on - all of them - when you get asked for a urine test. All "positive test results" are reviewed by a MRO (medical review officer) trained to check for interactions between the test and prescribed OR over-the-counter medications. Listing all of your medications will help the MRO clear-up any possible problems.
