Can Prednisone Casuse Low TSH Results?11/15/2006 |
I have been on prednisone for many years for treatment of lupus. This month my TSH turned out to be 0.197. Doctor says I have hyperthryroid. Could it be from prednisone or not?
High doses of prednisone can decrease TSH levels at first, but eventually the body escapes from this effect and TSH levels return to normal. I suspect that your low TSH is not from your prednisone.
