How does someone get colon cancer. Does it come by you doing something you should not be doing like not going to the bathroom on time? Like holding it till you get home?
Colorectal cancer occurs when the cells that line the colon or rectum undergo neoplastic change. There are no definitive causes of this change, but there are a few things that seem to predispose to it - like smoking, high fat diet, physical inactivity. There are also known to be genetic causes of colorectal cancer; we have been able to identify certain gene deletions that exist in those with a familial type of colorectal cancer.
