Multicystic kidney01/12/2007 |
iam 34 wks pregnant and an ultrasound has revealed that the fetal right kidney is not seen instead there is a large cyatic mass in the fetal abdomen of 10cm*6.6cm in size suggestive of multicystic kidney.my question is wether the infant born will be normar or he will have some abnormalities externally?
Multicystic kidneys are quite common and lead to no external signs. These children typically are otherwise healthy and live normal lives. The abnormal kidney most often just disappears as the child gets older. Rarely do they have to be removed.
