Taking Forteo for Having 4% Bone Loss

I have been suggested that I start taking Forteo. I usually walked 2-3 miles daily but one and half years ago I began having knee pain that eventually evolved into a total knee replacement and of course, inactivity. It is nearly exactly 1 year since the replacement and I am just beginning to walk again for exercise. The Dexascan I just had indicated 4% bone loss. The Dexascan technician suggested it is due to the lack of exercise and she expected that to reverse. My physician wants me to go on Forteo. I am skeptical about it. Any thoughts?

It is not appropriate for me to advise you without knowing your history and bone density result.  If you do not agree with your physician, it is fine to get another opinion, preferably someone who specializes on osteoporosis.
