High Sed Rate High CRP

02/02/2007

Question:

I have a sed rate of 51 and a CRP rate of 40 - just recently I`ve experienced temporary blindness - what could cause this?

Answer:

Both the sed rate and CRP indicate that there is a significant inflammatory process going on in your body. (It would be helpful if the units in which CRP are expressed are given.) I do not know your age, nor other features of your illness other than temporary blindness. Nonetheless, this combination of features strongly suggests a disease called Giant Cell Arteritis, which requires urgent medical attention.
