Can I wear a retainer instead of braces?
I had braces 2 years ago for about 1 year. When i got them taken out I was given a retainer to wear, i wore this for a few months and then stopped. My teeth are going back to normal and im not happy with my look. Could I go to my dentist and get another retainer to recover my teeth even though it`s been 2 years since I had braces or would I have to go through the whole process again? please get back to me.
Certainly you need to go back to the orthodontist to evaluate how much change has occurred. It may be that a retainer will be enough or he may need to construct an aligner. In either case, you will need to wear the appliance 21 out of 24 hours to affect a change so be prepared for that.
