Arthritis and Rheumatism

Scrunch feeling in my knee

03/23/2007

Question:

I have had arthritis in my left knee from a car accident for 11 years and now RA for 3 years. I went over to turn off the television and I felt and herd a scrunching in my left knee. I had more pain just for a few minutes after but there has been no more pain or swelling than normal. Could this be from my tendon, ligament, or the joint itself? Should I mention it to my doctor or is it nothing to worry about?

Answer:

It was probably from the joint itself due to cartilage rubbing together. Unless it happens on a regular basis with more pain and swelling in the knee, it is probably nothing to worry about.
