Pain Management

Abdominal Pain on the Right

04/09/2007

Question:

The last 2 times I have been running for 3-4 minutes. I have started experiencing pain below the abdomen, on the right side. I am 23 yrs old. I used to experience similar pain under similar circumstances until i was about 12-13 years old. Then it disappeared till now. I have a pretty active lifestyle and do at lest a 30 min cardio workout everyday. Is this something serious?

Answer:

The pain you are experiencing is likely mechanical occurring upon strenuous activity. Likely causes can be an entrapment of a muscle, nerve or a hernia. A muscle strain or ligament is also possible. Nonetheless, you should get it checked out by a physician.
