Gum Diseases

Topical ointment?

04/11/2007

Question:

www.netwellness.org/question.cfm/37539.htm

Would like to know if there is a topical ointment or herbal treatment that may be helpful

Answer:

No...There is no topical ointment or herbal treatment available for patient use. Dentists can apply local antibiotic delivery devices at certain phases of the treatment, but there is nothing for home care.  Fluoride toothpaste and certain antibacterial mouth rinses may help, depending on the severity of the case.
