Urinary Tract Cancers

Prostate infection

04/17/2007

Question:

My husband has been diagnosed with a prostate infection. Does this mean he could have cancer?

Answer:

The answer is no. The longer answer is that some men diagnosed with prostate infection have PSA elevation and so can men who have prostate cancer. However, there are many more differences between prostate infection and cancer so that it is very unusual to mistake one for the other.
