Is it too late to do orthodontics?

04/16/2007

Question:

The condtion of my teeth is awfull.I have filled some of my teeth ,and i have still tooth decay. My upper teeth has grown out so i can not close my lips easily. This also leads in having an ugly smile.I am 33 years old.Can i have any chance to make the condition of my teeth better by orthodency? Thanks

Answer:

Yes, orthodontics can be done at your age. Certainly before you consult an orthodontist, you should make sure that all of the decay you mention is taken care of by your general dentist. If you need the name of a trained orthodontist in your area, you can contact the American Association of Orthodontists at 1-800-424-2841.
