Sarcoidosis |
Vitamin D04/19/2007 |
Dr. Crouser, this is to thank you. I spoke with my rheum and my pcp who told me I should never have been given 50,000 IU (RX) of vitamin D as a supplement (I didn`t take it) b/c my sarcoid could have greatly worsened. Because of the nature of this strange disease,so many medical people do not know about it.Thank you...thank you...thank you.
You are most welcome! I believe that total avoidance of vitamin D is not healthy, and high doses are probably unsafe. The "optimal" dose remains to be determined. Unfortunately, there is little support for sarcoidosis research at this time to answer this question and many others.
