I have a terible memory. I have had it all my life. It is very hard for me to perform my daily work. People are always getting frustrated with me at work. Like I said this has been going on since I was little. I can`t remember facts and my concentration and comprehension is very bad also. I feel like I go from job to job because I give up trying to learn all there is to learn. I do not know what to do. What do you suggest I try or what kind of doctor do I go see and for what tests? Someone please help me.
Your memory sounds quite frustrating! It also sounds important to follow up on.
Start with your primary care physician (PCP; family physician or internist) and ask if they feel comfortable dealing directly with the problem or could make a referral. If you do not have a PCP, ask a friend who does for a good name. Memory problems are handled by many different specialist. Your age, your other health problems and your specific other symptoms may suggest a specific specialist.
