Effect of Sexual Activity on PSA05/04/2007 |
Just what is the effect of any sexual activity prior to testing? Does it only affect the PSA # ie 7 or the Free PSA as well? My doctor did not mention any possibility that the results could be skewed. Latest Test results were 7 (up from 1.4 2 years ago) with free psa of 1.9% Urologist will be seen in about 10 days for consult, should testing be repeated before biopsy? 54 yr old
Sexual activity prior to a PSA has been debated as to whether it can influence the results, however, I am not aware of any reports of sexual activity affecting percent fee PSA. Certainly a repeat PSA would not be wrong.
