Lower Left Side Pain

Question:

Hi I have this pain that just started on 5/18/07 on the lower left side close to my ovaries and the pain is sharp it hurts to lift my left leg 2 inches off the ground. It makes me feel sick it hurts so bad and I haven`t had any surgery since I was 8 years old and that was for a hernia. I am 20 years old now. The pain is in the front and it hurts so bad that its starting to give me sharp pains in my back.

Please help to understand what it might be.

Answer:

Without the benefit of a full history and physical examination, it is difficult to make a diagnosis. Based on the limited information provided, it could be related to an ovarian cyst or a pelvic inflammatory process but other causes are possible. An evaluation by your gynecologist or a primary physician would be indicated.
