how much bleeding is there wiyh root canal? i`m on coumadin and should i come off it. my dentist said that i didn`t need to stop it.
Normally, people are placed on coumadin to help with significant medical risks. It is not usual to just have them stop taking their medications, as that could lead to possible complications. Nonsurgical root canal therapy does not play a significant role with regards to bleeding. The concerns associated with treatment have more to do with the injections necessary for treatment.
The most important information for dentists regarding your treatment are past and current INRs (a medical test that helps us determine your bleeding risk). Treatment will depend on your test results. If there are any questions, you should speak with your dentist and physician regarding your concerns.
