Easing Sciatica Pain05/30/2007 |
What`s the best way to ease the pain from this condition?
The answer depends on the duration of the condition and the causative factor. Potential treatments include epidural steroid injections, medications that work on nerve-mediated pain (some of the anti-seizure and some anti-depression medications may be useful), physical therapy when combined with the above, surgical interventions if indicated and finally neuromodulation interventions (such as spinal cord stimulation) if there had been a previous failed back surgery.
The appropriate intervention depends on the clinical situation. An evaluation with one or more Pain Medicine specialist(s) would be useful in deciding the appropriate treatment.
