Altering Crowns06/01/2007 |
I have four front top teeth crowns that I really want to be grounded down a little in a few places. For instance, the two front top teeth are not even, one is longer. One of my side teeth is too big compared to the other side tooth and the two side teethe are not the same shape. Can I file these teeth down or will filing them ruin the finish on the porcelain?
Porcelain is a brittle material that is susceptible to fracture when adjusted in the mouth after cementation. The crowns may be altered; however there is a chance that they may be damaged beyond repair and need to be remade.
