Hard vein after IV two weeks ago06/07/2007 |
I discovered that I have a hardened vein on the side of my wrist where they put an IV in for gallbladder surgery. The Doctor told me what it was, however last night and this morning my arm feels a little bit numb. The only thing different I did was to put a heating pad on it for awhile and the Doctor put me on Bactrim for a UTI which I started on last night. I am worried since my mother died from a blood clot to her lungs after gallbladder surgery (this was 40 years ago). Should I be worried about this?
A local clot in the vein where the IV was placed is usually not a problem unless there is evidence of swelling and tenderness.
