Estrogen & low platelets06/12/2007 |
I read somewhere that estrogen and/or birth control pills might help raise your platelet count. Mine has been 30,000 for acouple years with no treatment, (just keep a check on the count every 6 mo.) What is your opinion on this?? Thanks.
While estrogen can affect other aspects of coagulation, it really shouldn’t have any effect on the platelet count. It sounds from the message that you likely have ITP, with a stable platelet count without therapy. Whether you take estrogen or not, it should not really affect your platelet count.
