High Blood Pressure
I am taking Coversyle and Tiazac for my high blood pressure. My doctor is reluctend to change it because my blood pressure has been doing good. Is there any thing that I can do or take for the cough from the Coversyl. I already drink large amounts of water and suck on hard candy but it is still pretty bad cough.
Coversyl is perindopril, an ACE inhibitor. ACE inhibitors are well known to cause a chronic cough in about 15% of patients. The cough does not resolve with continued use of the drug.
In your case, you should probably switch to an angiotensin receptor blocker. This class of agents is just as effective as ACE inhibitors, but does not cause a cough. Angiotensin receptor blockers include losartan, valsartan, candesartan and others.
