Arthritis and Rheumatism

Stiff fingers in morning

07/09/2007

Question:

I am 32 years old and I was in a car wreck at 21 years old. Since I had my last child in Jan. I wake up and my hand is in a fist like shape and I have to pry my fingers straight ( it hurts) after a few minutes they start feeling better but I noticed in the last week they seem to be sore throughout the day and my heels of my feet are stiffing up. Could this be arthritis. The only arthritis in my family is Lupus and my cousin has that.

Answer:

I think it is not likely that this is arthritis if joints are not involved. If they are, then arthritis is a possibility. An examination might be helpful.
