Taking Fosamax for More Than 5 Years07/30/2007 |
I am a 74 year old female and I have been taking fosamax for 8 years. Can I continue to take it safely for more years or will it begin to have a negative effect on my bones?
Recent research has shown that people who have taken Fosamax for 5 years can stop it for a few years and continue to derive benefit. Those who have had vertebral compression fractures and who are at high risk of more compression fractures should consider continuing the Fosamax.
