Tingling Pain in Left Shoulder08/27/2007 |
I've had this tingling and pain in my left shoulder and arm for about 1 to 1 1/2 years. Had some cortisone injections and therapy. Will an MRI show any nerve problems, and what is the treatment for this problem?
Tingling is usually a symptom related to nerve irritation. Tingling in the shoulder and arm may be due to nerve root irritation in the neck (cervical spine, likely C5-C6) and an MRI of the cervical spine would be helpful at delineating the cause of the pain. Epidural cortisone injections may be helpful and depending on physical exam and imaging, surgery sometimes is indicated.
