Colon Cancer

Cause for concern or not

08/06/2007

Question:

I`m 45-female. Have been having some issues with bleeding of the rectum. This only occurs when close to mensus before and during and usually a significant amount. I have also been having upper mid section abdominal pains along with changes in bowel such as more often and narrowing stools. It seems as though I never really go very well. I`ve had a upper endo with normal results but not a colonoscopy. I feel confused about this because the bleeding only occurs during menus but other symptoms won`t go away. I did have my gallbladder taken out in January after having a hida scan. But same pains are still there. Any thoughts as to what else could be going on? Thanks

Answer:

If you're having rectal bleeding, I would strongly advise getting a colonoscopy. Sometimes the hormonal changes with your cycle affect the bowels.
