Sharp pain in back neck/head when exercising



This problem has only recently developed but it has been really bothering me the past week. When I exercise or strain myself, a dull pain starts to develop in my neck and then travels to the base and bottom of my skull. Ultimately, it feel like I have a migraine and becomes extremely painful. I only get this when I exercise, what could be happening???


My first suggestion is to make sure you are breathing properly during exercise and not holding your breath.  Proper technique is to exhale on the positive/concentric phase of the exercise and inhale on the negative/eccentric phase of the exercise.

If this is not the case or does not help, I would suggestion that you consult your family physician with this problem.
