Anemia08/07/2007 |
I have iron deffency anemia and anemia of chronic disease. I take an iron pill every day. But my anemia still comes back. I can tell when my hemaglobin is low. I get realy tired and cold. If I am cold when every one else is warm then I know that it is down again. When that happens should I then increase my Slow Fe to two a day for awhile and then decrease it again. I get a blood test every 6 weeks because I am taking Methotrexate. Normal hemiglobin on the report was 120. mine last time was 114 but I had no symptoms. Because of my RA my doctor said that any thing over 100 is ok because it could be caused my the inflamation. Is that normal rule of thumb. Not to treat it until it gets below 100?
The current guideline is hgb less than 10 or significant symptoms.
