Arthritis and Rheumatism

Bone scan

08/14/2007

Question:

I got to get a full body bone scan. I have rheumatiod arthritis. Will joint damage from my RA show up on a bone scan that will not on an x-ray?

Answer:

Bond scan primarily shows joints that are inflamed. Actual damage shows up on X-rays, but MRI is even more sensitive than X-ray at detecting damage.
