Small lump in right breast
I have a marble size lump in my right breast, just behind the areola. It does not hurt and it moves a little bit. The doctor said she was going to cut around my areola to remove it, then it would take about a week to get the results. She scheduled this procedure for less than a week from looking at it and I am concerned, should I be? What could it possibly be, she has said a number of things but not really leading to one thing or another??
Most likely this is a benign lump and you shouldn’t worry too much. The lumpectomy is to remove the mass and get a tissue diagnosis. Most young women get intraductal papillomas behind the nipple, which most likely does not increase your risk for developing cancer. If this turns out to be breast cancer, then I’m sure your surgeon will explain the appropriate next step.
