Clean from crack for 3 weeks
i am a 39 year old female never done drugs until 8 months ago i was doing crack i have been clean for 3 weeks on my own so for with very little to none withdrawls so about how long does it normaly take people not to have to worry about withdrawls also how long does it stay in your system thank for you time
Thank you for your question.
Crack cocaine is actually just an alkaline or "basic" chemical form of cocaine, so it stays in a person's system the same length of time as any other form of cocaine. Typically the cocaine itself is only in the blood for about 30 minutes, and detectable in the urine for about 12 hours. However, cocaine does have some "metabolites" or break down products that can stay in the body and in the urine for up to two to four days.
Cocaine does not usually produce very much in the way of withdrawal symptoms. Many people do feel tired, with increased sleep and increased eating for a few days after quitting the cocaine use. However, most patients report intermittent cravings for cocaine, including day dreams and night dreams about using it, and mood swings with irritability, that happen over a period of several weeks after quitting the cocaine. That is one of the reasons why it is so important to have help in staying away from continued using.
This help may come in the form of:
- one's church or family support
- AA meetings and other "self-help" community based programming
- or an outpatient or residential drug and alcohol treatment program.
Whichever form of help a person uses, it is clearly important to get that help in order to increase the chance that a person does not go back to the cocaine use.
Please write back if you have additional questions or concerns.
