Organ donation09/12/2007 |
Can you still donate if you have tattoos or body piercings?
Yes, since most organs are on the inside of the body, changes on the outside, particularly the skin will not directly affect them. However, as tattoos and body piercings involve use of needles, a thorough screening will be undertaken (as it is for all donors) to ensure that the donor does not have a disease that may have been transmitted via the needle such as hepatitis or HIV.
