Is Drop in PSA Following Postive Biospy Normal?
My PSA went from 2.23 to 3.36 in 18 months. I had a biospy and cancer was found in two of the eight samples. My gleason score was 3+3 the cancer was in less than 3% of the sample and the ultrasound was normal. My GP did a second PSA after 30 days and my PSA is now 2.88. How could this happen? I have met with a Urologist and am being scheduled for surgery. I am 63 years old. Thanks
This happens and you are neither the first nor will you be the last man this happens to. PSA varies and usually rises after prostate biopsies, then returns to baseline.
The PSA changes you have noted are irrelevant to either your diagnosis or your subsequent therapy.
Best of luck.
