Turp Surgery09/19/2007 |
My dad had Turp surgery last week and they took the catheter out the next day and he still was not able to go. He did pass some blood clots from the surgery. He has not been able to go for four months due to his hip surgery. What is the likelihood that he will be able to go in a week or two. The surgery was March 20th - how long could it take?
Occasionally, ability to void after TURP is delayed. Other times, bladder weakness after longstanding enlargement of the prostate makes recovery of normal voiding difficult. Finally, the urologist may need to look into the prostate again to make sure that no more obstructing tissue is blocking the outflow pathway. Your father’s urologist should be able to enlighten you and your father regarding what the next steps in evaluation and treatment are.
