I have never had children. Heard I`m more pron to breast cancer from taking hpt. Dr. prescribe promentrium. I`am scared. I have a form of endomentrium. thick linning in the uterus.
If you have a form of endometrial hyperplasia (overgrowth of the lining of the uterus), Prometrium (or another progestogen) is the appropriate therapy to keep the condition from turning into cancer of the uterus (endometrial cancer).
Many women take a progestogen in a cyclic manner during the menopause transition to
1) regulate their cycles
2) to prevent heavy bleeding
3) to prevent or treat endometrial hyperplasia
Alternatively, healthy women who are not smokers and have no other contraindication can take a low-dose oral contraceptive pill to accomplish 1) and 2) above, as well as to obtain contraception.
